Last time, we set up transport and confirmed that transportation becomes as bottleneck. In this issue, we will introduce two ways to eliminate this bottleneck by changing transport settings in the previous model created.
Method 1: Increase the number of transport workers
By increasing the number of workers to be transported, it increases the number of times of transport in a fixed time and eliminates the bottleneck.
* We recommend changing the name of this model and saving as a separate project in order to make two changes to the model introduced last time.
(1-1) Addition of workers
First, add one worker to the team masters.
The method of adding workers is the same as last time.
* In this case, the name of the worker to be added as "Transfer02", and click the icon to change it.
(1-2) Set transport activity of newly added workers
We set transport settings for newly added workers.
The setting of transport will be the same as the previous setting.
(1-3) Confirmation of simulation result
Implement rendering and check the simulation results.
As you advance the animation, you can find how the two workers are conveying respectively.
While watching the material flow, you can see that the non-operating time zone at [Equipment B] in the post-process after the previous waiting status has disappeared, and the bottleneck caused by transport has been eliminated.
However, increasing the number of workers effectively leads to the increased worker costs.
Thus, the method of bottleneck cancellation can be its alternatives.
Method 2: Increase the transport lot size
By increasing the size of lot to be transported, we transport many parts at once and eliminate the bottleneck.
* We use the model in the setting condition which is similar to the model introduced in the previous time, not the model which carried out method 1.
(2-1) Change of the number of conveyances in transport activity
Increase the number of parts you carry at once by transport against the existing transport activity.
Here we change it to convey two pieces at a time.
(2-2) Confirmation of simulation result
Implement rendering and check the material flow.
This time we introduced an example to solve the transport setting which is being a bottleneck in two ways.
There are various ways to solve the bottleneck phenomenon depending upon the production model, however, by using GD.findi, it is easy to grasp how much effect can be expected by changing the number of people in transport and the lot size.
